Abbey Group, one of Ireland’s leading travel and tourism companies, today announced a new strategic partnership with the Green Ocean Foundation, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, climate action, and nature restoration.
Green Ocean Foundation has received funding through Green Kite’s Sustainability Fund 2026. This grant will fund educational and promotional materials and RIB training for volunteers, helping more people participate in caring for the oyster garden. Outcomes from the Dún Laoghaire project include cleaner harbour water, habitats for other marine species and more skilled community volunteers.

Ireland’s coastal waters once thrived with native oyster reefs that filtered our seas, supported marine life, and strengthened entire ecosystems. Over time, those reefs disappeared and with them, a vital natural ally in ocean health. At the Green Ocean Foundation, we’re working to bring them back.
